The MINI Financial Services Vehicle Condition Evaluator makes determining your vehicle’s condition easy.

WEAR AND USE OVERVIEW.

If you’re planning on returning your current MINI, this handy interactive guide will assist you with checking for acceptable wear and use, and help you determine if any maintenance or repair work needs to be completed before your vehicle return date. If you purchased MINI Financial Services Excess Wear & Use Protection at contract inception, you will be protected from some damages that would otherwise be chargeable at lease maturity. Please use the toggle above to view the acceptable wear and use on your vehicle based on your applicable coverage.

ACCEPTABLE

  • Scratches or scuffs through the paint that are less than 2" in length;
  • Exterior dents with damage 2" or less (maximum three occurrences per panel);
  • Minor stone chips that affect an area within the 2" middle circle of the Evaluator;
  • Cleanable road tar;
  • Superficial scuffs/scratches that do not penetrate the paint.

UNACCEPTABLE

  • Scratches or scuffs through paint greater than 2" middle circle of the Evaluator;
  • Stone chips that cover an area greater than the 2" middle circle of the Evaluator;
  • Any dents greater than the 2" middle circle of the Evaluator;
  • Broken exterior parts that are not replaced or repaired to manufacturer’s specifications (e.g., misaligned parts, mismatched paint, distorted body panels);
  • Repairs that do not meet manufacturer’s specifications (e.g., misaligned parts, mismatched paint, distorted body panels, poor previous repair or repaint);
  • Exterior paint damage from excessive organic fallout (e.g., insect decomposition, bird droppings), industrial fallout, or atmospheric conditions;
  • Buckled, bent, gouged, or deeply scratched bumpers;
  • Cracked or punctured bumpers.

GLASS AND LAMPS

ACCEPTABLE

  • Minor scratches and bull’s-eyes (without any associated cracks) that are outside of the driver’s wiper arc, less than 1/2", and do not distort or obscure the driver’s view of the road (up to two occurrences);
  • Repairs that do not distort the driver’s view of the road;
  • Surface chips in driver’s wiper arc.

UNACCEPTABLE

  • Windshield replacement with substandard glass (non-OEM quality/missing rain sensor/not Heads-Up Display compatible, if equipped);
  • Any windshield replacement that does not have the approved MINI logo displayed in the glass;
  • Windshield that has been polished to remove damage;
  • Star breaks, bull’s-eyes with cracks, or windshield cracks that are larger than 1/2";• Any star breaks, bull’s-eyes with cracks, or windshield cracks that are within the driver’s wiper arc, regardless of size;
  • Any condition that prevents issuance of a valid inspection certificate in the province where the vehicle is returned;
  • Any repair with detectable cracks, regardless of size, that distort or obscure the driver’s view of the road;
  • Puncture that results in water penetration.

FRAME AND UNIBODY

ACCEPTABLE

  • Damage that does not affect the safety or structural integrity of the frame or unibody;
  • Repairs using manufacturer’s recommended methods that restore the vehicle to original specification (consult a MINI Retailer for a Certified Collision Repair Centre);
  • Minor scrapes, gouges, or dents to the frame or unibody.

UNACCEPTABLE

  • Repairs that do not restore the frame or unibody to manufacturer’s specifications;
  • Repairs that do not follow manufacturer’s recommended repair methods (e.g., butt welding);
  • Damage that affects the safety or structural integrity of the frame or unibody (e.g., buckled unibody, torn metal channel, kinked radiator support);
  • Any sheet metal damage to rocker panels.
  • Missing equipment including, but not limited to, keys, manuals or cargo covers;
  • Any vehicle warning lights (engine light, airbag lights, brake service lights, traction control, etc.);
  • Incomplete or overdue services;
  • Non-functioning electrical components (power windows, climate control, iDrive® screen and controls, etc);
    Aftermarket accessories (performance parts, suspension modifications, body panels, radio, etc.);
    Decals.

OTHER

UNACCEPTABLE

  • Missing equipment including, but not limited to, keys, manuals, navigation CDs, or cargo covers;
  • Any vehicle warning lights (engine light, airbag lights, brake service lights, traction control, etc.);
  • Incomplete or overdue services;
  • Non-functioning electrical components (power windows, climate control, iDrive® screen and controls, etc);
  • Aftermarket accessories (performance parts, suspension modifications, body panels, radio, etc.);
    Decals.

ACCEPTABLE

  • Minor scuffs to the interior, seats, and soft trim (includes leather, cloth, vinyl leather, plastic, wood, carpets, headliners, vinyl and convertible tops, and weather-stripping seals).

UNACCEPTABLE

  • Severe scuffs and cracks, cuts, holes and tears to the interior, seats, and soft trim (includes leather, cloth, vinyl leather, plastic, wood, carpets, headliners, vinyl and convertible tops, and weather-stripping seals);
  • Missing interior equipment (headrests, remote controls, headphones, etc);
  • Stains that cannot be removed;
  • Any burn holes or singed areas.

ACCEPTABLE

  • Four matching MINI approved tires that have at least 4/32" of tread depth that also meet the vehicle’s original tire specifications (size, load index, speed rating, run-flat) which can be found on the vehicle door B pillar decal and/or within the vehicle’s owner’s manual. MINI approved tires are manufactured by Pirelli, Continental, Goodyear, Dunlop, Michelin, Bridgestone, and Hankook.
  • Minor scuffs to tires that do not affect the safety of the tire;
  • Minor scuffs or nicks to alloys that fall within the 4" outer circle of the Evaluator.

UNACCEPTABLE

  • Tires that are flat;
  • Tires that have less than 4/32" tread depth;
  • Tire specifications and sizes different from original equipment brand (approved brands are Michelin, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Goodyear and Hankook), type (run-flat), and speed rating;
  • Recapped or retread tires;
  • Tire repair plugs;
  • Snow tires;
  • Any tire damage that affects the safe operation of the vehicle;
  • Mismatched, bent, cracked, or broken wheels, or alloys;
  • Alloy wheel specification, size and type (wheel style) different than that of the vehicle’s original equipment;
  • Missing spare tire and/or spare tire that does not match the specifications;
  • Bulges or indentations in the sidewall;
  • Scuffs/scratches to wheel covers/alloys that fall outside of the 4" outer circle of the Evaluator.

UNACCEPTABLE

  • Missing equipment including, but not limited to, keys, manuals, or cargo covers;
  • Any vehicle warning lights (engine light, airbag lights, brake service lights, traction control etc.);
  • Incomplete or overdue services;
  • Non functioning electrical components (power windows, climate control, iDrive screen and controls, etc);
  • Aftermarket accessories (performance parts, including spoilers, suspension modifications, body panels, radio, etc.);
  • Trailer hitches;
  • Decals or stickers.

EXCESS WEAR AND USE PROTECTION.

MINI Financial Services Excess Wear and Use Protection covers some vehicle damage that would otherwise be chargeable. The following guidelines can help you determine whether your MINI has any uncovered damage before returning it to a MINI Retailer.

ACCEPTABLE

  • Scratches or scuffs through the paint that are 2” – 4” in length (non-collision related);
  • Exterior dents with damage 2” – 8”
  • Minor stone chips;
  • Cleanable road tar;
  • Superficial scuffs/scratches that do not penetrate the paint.

UNACCEPTABLE

  • Scratches or scuffs through paint greater than 4”;
  • Any dents greater than 8";
  • Broken exterior parts that are not replaced or repaired to manufacturer’s specifications (e.g., misaligned parts, mismatched paint, distorted body panels); Other repairs that do not meet manufacturer’s specifications (e.g., misaligned parts, mismatched paint, distorted body panels, poor previous repair or repaint);
  • Unrepaired collision damage or single-occurrence damages spanning multiple body panels (e.g. vandalism);
  • Buckled, bent, gouged, or deeply scratched bumpers (over 8”); Cracked or punctured bumpers.

GLASS AND LAMPS

ACCEPTABLE

  • Surface chips to a MINI-approved windshield;
  • Minor chips, bullseyes or cracks to a MINI-approved windshield.

UNACCEPTABLE

  • Windshield replacement of substandard glass (non-OEM quality);
  • Any windshield replacement that does not have the approved MINI logo displayed in the glass;
  • Excessive scratches as a result of negligence;
  • Damage as a result of a collision.
  • Repairs that do not restore the frame or unibody to manufacturer’s specifications;
  • Repairs that do not follow manufacturer’s recommended repair methods (e.g., butt welding);
  • Damage that affects the safety or structural integrity of the frame or unibody (e.g., buckled unibody, channel torn metal, kinked radiator support);
  • Any sheet metal damage to rocker panels.

UNACCEPTABLE

  • Repairs that do not follow manufacturer’s recommended repair methods (e.g., butt welding);

UNACCEPTABLE

  • Missing interior equipment (headrests, remote controls, headphones, etc);
  • Stains that cannot be removed;
  • Any burn holes or singed areas.

ACCEPTABLE

  • Tire specifications and sizes different from the original tires supplied on your vehicle, including incorrect type (e.g. run-flat), and/or a non-approved brand (approved brands are Michelin, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop and Goodyear);
  • Recapped or retread tires;
  • Tire repair plugs;
  • Bulges or indentations in the sidewall;
  • Snow tires;
  • Flat tires;
  • Any tire damage that affects the safe operation of the vehicle;
  • Mismatched, bent, cracked, or broken wheels, wheel covers, or alloys;
  • Alloy wheel specification, sizes and type (wheel style) different than the vehicle’s original equipment, including painted wheels.

UNACCEPTABLE

  • Missing equipment including, but not limited to, keys, manuals, or cargo covers;
  • Any vehicle warning lights (engine light, airbag lights, brake service lights, traction control etc.);
  • Incomplete or overdue services;
  • Non functioning electrical components (power windows, climate control, iDrive screen and controls, etc);
  • Aftermarket accessories (performance parts, including spoilers, suspension modifications, body panels, radio, etc.);
  • Trailer hitches;
  • Decals or stickers.
